House to take up farm bill today

The House of Representatives is scheduled to begin consideration of the farm bill today, according to a schedule released late Monday by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., but it is unclear what time the debate will begin.

The House Rules Committee on Monday issued a rule of one hour of general debate on the bill, which is formally known as the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013 (FARRM).

The Rules Committee also said Monday that the farm bill is scheduled on the floor through Thursday. Rules is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. today to issue a rule on the amendments to the bill.

The bill and related documents are available on the House Rules Committee website, and The Hagstrom Report has posted a searchable PDF containing the legislative text of the 227 amendments, which was compiled by Daniel Bowman Simon, a graduate student at New York University.
