Organizations, Senate group support Senate energy title

More than 100 organizations have asked farm bill conferees to adopt the energy title of the Senate-passed farm bill.

In addition, 14 senators led by Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Roy Blunt, R-Mo., sent a letter to the conferees urging retention of the Senate energy title.

“Programs like the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP), Biorefinery Assistance Program (BAP) and Biobased Markets Program (Biopreferred) strongly support American agriculture and ensure broad public benefits to the entire country,” the National Farmers Union, the Biotechnology Industry Organization and other groups wrote the conferees.
