Peterson announces new aides at House Ag

House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn., announced today that he has hired three new aides on the minority committee staff.

Matt MacKenzie has been hired as counsel. He has been a counsel to Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, where he focused on financial services, budget and tax issues. He also served as a legislative assistant to former Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn.

MacKenzie received his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from St. Olaf College. He is a native of Montana.

Evan Jurkovich and Mike Stranz have been hired as a professional staff members

Jurkovich has been a senior policy adviser to Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, where his responsibilities have included energy, environment, agriculture, transportation, infrastructure, science/technology, small business, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, animal welfare and telecommunications.

A natice of Minnesota, he holds a bachelor of science degree in politics and a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Drake University, and is pursuing a master of science degree in energy policy and climate at Johns Hopkins University.

Stranz has been a senior government relations representative on a broad range of agricultural issues for the National Farmers Union. He previously held a similar position at the Wisconsin Farmers Union.

A native of Wisconsin, he holds a bachelor of science degree in international agriculture and natural resources and agricultural journalism from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
