The Senate Agriculture Committee is expected to meet today to elect Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., as chairman of that committee. But the chairmanship will not be official until Thursday when the Republican conference is scheduled to vote on chairmanships and the full Senate will also vote on them.

The committee vote today is expected to be held off the Senate floor rather than in the committee room, a Roberts aide said.
