House Ag Approps to hold three hearings

The House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee will hold three hearings this week.

The hearings will be on President Barack Obama’s fiscal year 2016 budget requests for the Agriculture Department’s Marketing and Regulatory division and the Research, Education and Economics division, and for the Food and Drug Administration.

All the hearings will take place in Room 2362-A of the Rayburn House Office Building.

On Tuesday at 2 p.m., the subcommittee will hear testimony from:

  • Agriculture Undersecretary for Marketing Regulatory Programs Ed Avalos
  • Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Administrator Kevin Shea
  • Agriculture Marketing Service Administrator Anne Alonzo
  • Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administrator Larry Mitchell
  • USDA Budget Officer Michael Young.

On Wednesday at 10 a.m., the subcommittee will hear testimony from:

  • FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg
  • Jay Tyler, the FDA chief financial officer
  • Norris Cochran, the director of the budget office.

On Thursday, the subcommittee will hear testimony from:

  • Agriculture Undersecretary for Research, Education and Economics Catherine Woteki
  • Agriculture Research Service Administrator Chavonda Jacobs-Young
  • National Institute of Food and Agriculture Director Sonny Ramaswamy
  • Economic Research Service Administrator Mary Bohman
  • National Agriculture Statistics Service Administrator Joseph Reilly
  • UDSA Budget Officer Michael Young.
