Obama names McBride to head Rural Utilities Service

President Barack Obama on Friday named Brandon McBride to be administrator of the Rural Utilities Service.
McBride has been a senior professional staff member of the Senate Agriculture Committee since 2009 and worked on the 2014 farm bill when Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., chaired the committee.
Before that he served as a legislative assistant for then-Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., from 2003 to 2009. From 2001 to 2003, McBride was the grants specialist for Lincoln.
McBride received bachelor of arts, bachelor of science and a master of public administration degrees from Arkansas State University.
He succeeds Jasper Schneider, the North Dakota USDA rural development director who has been the acting administrator.
