Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., has named two key senior staffers for the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
Staff director Chris Adamo has been a legislative counsel for Stabenow for four years. Adamo worked on the 2008 farm bill and energy legislation, and has focused on agriculture and conservation.
Chief counsel Jonathan Coppess has been serving as administrator of the USDA Farm Service Agency. Before that he was the agency’s deputy administrator for farm programs, and worked previously as a Senate aide.
“We are assembling a very talented team with a wide breadth of experience that truly captures the diversity of American agriculture,” Stabenow said. “The team understands the needs and concerns of our nation’s farmers, growers and agricultural producers, and is committed to continuing to work with them to make sure their concerns are at the forefront as we move forward with writing the next Farm Bill.”
