Unemployment rate dips in rural America

Like the unemployment rate in the rest of the country, the unemployment rate in rural America went down in August, according to an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data by The Daily Yonder.
But the rate was still higher in rural counties, where it was 7.99 percent, than in exurban counties, the outer reaches of metropolitan areas, where it was 7.6 percent.
