Poultry industry calls for action on Russia PNTR

The U.S. poultry industry on Thursday called on Congress to finish legislation enacting permanent normal trade relations with Russia during the lame duck session.
The National Chicken Council, the National Turkey Federation, the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council joined more than 500 other trade associations and businesses under the umbrella of the Coalition for U.S.-Russia Trade in calling on Congress to approve the legislation.
In a similar letter to President Barack Obama, the coalition urged the president to work with Congress to ensure the passage of the legislation.
The legislation has been stalled by efforts to tie the granting of PNTR status to a bill that would punish Russian officials suspected of human rights abuses.
