National Restaurant Association hires Walker

The National Restaurant Association has hired Matt Walker as vice president of government affairs.

Walker worked in Congress for 14 years, most recently as the deputy staff director and chief counsel of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and senior aide to former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine. Walker helped Snowe with her responsibilities on Small Business and well as on the Senate Finance and Senate Commerce committees.

Walker is a recently retired veteran of the Army National Guard. He was deployed from 2006 to 2007 to Afghanistan and selected as U.S. liaison to the South Korean and Polish forces and project manager of their construction operations.

Previously, Walker practiced law at Pierce Atwood, a New England firm.

A Maine native, Walker earned a bachelor of arts in political science, an interdisciplinary degree in legal studies from the University of Maine and a juris doctor from the Maine School of Law.
