House Agriculture Approps sets three budget hearings

The House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee will hold three hearings this week on Agriculture Department and Food and Drug Administration budget requests.

The subcommittee will hold a hearing Wednesday morning on rural development, with Agriculture Undersecretary for Rural Development Dallas Tonsager as the lead witness.

That afternoon the subcommittee will hold a hearing on natural resources and environment, including the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

On Thursday, the subcommittee will hold a hearing on domestic and foreign agricultural services.

The witnesses will include Agriculture Undersecretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse, Farm Service Agency Administrator Juan Garcia, Risk Management Agency Administrator Brandon Willis and Foreign Agricultural Service Administrator Suzanne Heinen.

On Friday, the subcommittee will hold a hearing on the Food and Drug Administration. The lead witness will be FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg.
