Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan is leaving today for Wisconsin to spend her last days in office at a conference on women in agriculture called WomenShare2013.
Merrigan is scheduled to leave her post on Friday, and has not announced future job plans.
However, in a blog post today, she said she will continue to push for women's opportunities in agriculture. Merrigan noted that USDA’s Economic Research Service has released a study showing that the number of women operating farms is increasing but that they are still behind male farmers in income.
