The House has rejected the amendment sponsored by Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass, to restore cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP.
The amendment would have restored $20.5 billion to the food stamp program by offsetting crop insurance — the Farm Risk Management Election Program and the Supplemental Coverage Option.
