The American Meat Institute and other meat groups have filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit appealing a court ruling that upheld the Obama administration’s implementation of the provision in the 2008 farm bill for country of origin labeling for red meat.
The Obama administration developed the plan to require detailed labeling about where animals were born, raised and slaughtered after a World Trade Organization panel ruled that an initial plan violated WTO standards.
