Finance to hold TTIP hearing

The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing Wednesday on the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreement between the United States and the European Union, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., announced today.
The hearing will be held at 11 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
“The United States and the European Union represent nearly half of all global GDP and a third of world trade,” Baucus said in a news release. “Studies estimate that an ambitious TTIP agreement could add more than $100 billion annually to U.S. GDP and support hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the U.S.”
Baucus and the witness panel will also discuss the importance of renewing Trade Promotion Authority to ensure the TTIP and other trade agreements can meet their full potential, Baucus said in the release.
