Peterson heads to Washington, Lucas committed to town meetings

House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn., is scheduled to arrive in Washington this evening, a spokeswoman told The Hagstrom Report. Meanwhile, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., is committed to town hall meetings this week that end Thursday.

Last Friday, Peterson said he would encourage Lucas to return to Washington this week, but that seems unlikely since Lucas’s town hall meetings ended at 4 p.m. CST today and resume Thursday at 11 a.m.

Lucas could travel to Washington for Wednesday or return for meetings on Friday, but the Senate is expected to leave that day because Congress will not meet on Monday due to the Veterans Day federal holiday.

According to his personal office website, Lucas had town hall meetings today in Clinton and Weatherford, Okla., and has town hall meetings scheduled Thursday in Anadarko from 11 a.m. until noon, in Watonga from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and in Kingfisher from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Lucas’s Agriculture Committee office did not comment on his travel schedule.
