Catfish inspection opponents continue campaign

Members of Congress who oppose the catfish inspection program established at the Agriculture Department under the 2008 farm bill continue to present their views to farm bill conferees.
On Tuesday, 16 senators sent a letter to Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., and ranking member Thad Cochran, R-Miss., urging repeal, while the chairmen and ranking members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and its health subcommittee sent a similar letter to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., and ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn.
