Stabenow defends Senate farm bill performance

Following a statement Tuesday by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, that the Senate Democrats are to blame for the slowness in finishing the farm bill, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., noted in a statement through her spokesman that the Senate has finished a bipartisan farm bill twice.

“In the Senate, Republicans and Democrats have worked together to pass a bipartisan farm bill two years in a row. Agriculture Committee leaders are continuing to work together, and everyone needs to rise above partisan politics if we are going to continue making bipartisan progress,” Ben Becker, the spokesman for the committee, said in an email.
