Gensler names acting chief economist

Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler on Monday named Sayee Srinivasan acting chief economist.
Srinivasan joined the commission’s Office of the Chief Economist in 2012. Before that he worked with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India, and OptiMark Technologies focusing on market and product design, trading rules, and business development across a broad range of asset classes, and both cash and derivatives markets.
Srinivasan has a doctoral degree and master of arts degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a bachelor of arts degree in accounting and a master of arts degree in finance from University of Bombay (now University of Mumbai).
