USDA seeks diversity in fruit and vegetable committee

The Agriculture Department is seeking nominations for the USDA Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee, which advises the Agriculture secretary on policies affecting the industry.
A USDA source said the Agricultural Marketing Service is making a strong push for diversity on the committee, which is composed of 25 new and former members from every capacity within the industry, including growers/producers, wholesalers, distributors,farmers market managers, food hubs and cooperatives, association leaders, retailers, food service suppliers and state departments of agriculture leaders.
Nominations are due by December 26 and may be emailed to Pam Stanziani, designated federal officer.
