Ashleigh Black
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs has hired Ashleigh Black as its director of congressional relations for its global agriculture development initiative.

Based in Washington, Black is a member of the United Nations HIV and Nutrition Inter-Agency Task Team, a co-chair of the Kansas Governor’s Humanitarian Commission, a member of the President’s Advisory Board at EARTH University in Costa Rica, and sits on the board of directors for the Global Child Nutrition Foundation and Projecto Honduras.

Before joining the council, Black served as associate director at the George Washington Center for Global Health and taught courses in GW’s masters in public health program.

She previously worked in the policy division of the Rome-based United Nations World Food Program, as a senior policy analyst at the Global Health Council, and as a legislative aide on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Black earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and Spanish literature at the University of Kansas and a masters of arts degree in state management and humanitarian affairs at the Universita degli Studi di Roma, La Sapienza in Rome.
