House Ag Approps to hold three hearings this week

The House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee will hold three hearings this week on President Barack Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget request.

All the hearings will be held in Room 2362-A of the Rayburn House Office Building and will begin at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, the subcommittee will hear from the Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services mission area of the Agriculture Department, and the witnesses will be:
  • Kevin Concannon, Agriculture undersecretary for food, nutrition and consumer services
  • Audrey Rowe, Food and Nutrition Service administrator
  • Michael Young, USDA budget officer

On Wednesday, the subcommittee will hear from the USDA’s Research, Education and Economics area, and the witnesses will be:
  • Catherine Woteki, undersecretary for research, education and economics
  • Chavonda Jacobs-Young, Agriculture Research Service administrator
  • Sonny Ramaswamy, director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture
  • Mary Bohman, Economic Research Service administrator
  • Cynthia Clark, National Agriculture Statistics Service administrator
  • Donald Bice, USDA associate budget director

On Thursday, the subcommittee will hear testimony from the Food and Drug Administration, a division of the Health and Human Services Department that comes under the jurisdiction of the subcommittee.

The witnesses will be:
  • FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg
  • Norris Cochran, HHS deputy assistant secretary
  • William Tootle, FDA budget director
