EPA extends deadline for 2013 renewable fuel standard

The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday extended the compliance deadline for the 2013 Renewable Fuel Standard.
The new deadline will be 30 days following publication in the Federal Register of the final 2014 volumetric requirements under the RFS, but no date has been set for that release.
“This action is being taken because we are still working on the 2014 RFS final standards; and we are taking the time to get them right,” EPA said in a news release.
“We believe biofuels are an important part of our all-of-the-above energy strategy, helping to curb our dependence on foreign oil, cut carbon pollution, and create jobs,” EPA said.
“We’ve made some great strides, and support the RFS goal of increasing biofuel production and use. We know how important our proposal is to the biofuels and related industries, which is why data and comments we received is so important. Our overarching goal is to put the RFS program on a manageable path forward that supports continued, achievable, realistic growth in renewable fuels.”
Information will be posted on the EPA website once the announcement is made.
