Key USDA report expected to project huge crop

A key Agriculture Department World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimate (WASDE) report is set to be released Tuesday. The report is important because it is based on field surveys, but analysts have already said they expect it to confirm huge corn and soybean crops.
If yields or revenues drop 25 percent below a farm's average, farmers will get crop insurance payments and if corn prices drop below $3.70 per bushel they will get farm subsidies, the St. Louis Post Dispatch noted in an article over the weekend.
The lower prices could spawn large government subsidy payments, DTN The Progressive Farmer reported today.
