USDA Farmers Market to open May 1

The Agriculture Department will open an expanded summer farmers market on Friday, May 1, it announced last week, and for the first time will have evening hours once a month.
USDA said the market, located at 12th Street and Independence Avenue SW, will host 31 vendors this year, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday through October 30, except for July 3.
Beginning Friday, May 15, a night market will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Friday of the month, USDA said.
