The White House Office of Management and Budget has begun its review of the rule governing the latest volumetric standards under the Renewable Fuel Standard, which are scheduled to be released by the Environmental Protection Agency on November 30.
The volumetric standards have been the subject of intense campaigning in recent weeks, with the oil industry and renewable fuels advocates exchanging charges about whether the volumes should be lowered or raised from what EPA has proposed.
National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson, an advocate for higher volumetric standards, noted that when NFU submitted its comments on the rule that his group would lobby the White House as well as EPA on the issue.
